Last weekend, we had the privilege of enjoying a Staycation/Babymoon at The Scott Resort & Spa in Scottsdale, Arizona.  This time of year, is what I call "heaven on earth" in Arizona!  Our weather here is perfection, with temps in the high 70's/low 80's.  I was 34 weeks pregnant, and have been feeling so ill this pregnancy, that I was really looking forward to this mini vacay.  Especially, since in included all of my favorite things; spa treatments, dining out, and relaxing poolside…all with my love!

This would also be a pretty monumental moment, as this was my first night away from Hartley, our 20-month old daughter.  I’ve been there every day, since her birth, to say good morning to her.  Trust me, I went back and forth, debating whether to take her with us, like we normally do, or not.  In the end, I decided to take advantage of this one opportunity to have the time alone with my hubby.  We were staying local, so I felt security in knowing I was close by.  Well, let me tell you mommas…do it!  It was just a weekend, but honestly it was so amazing!

This resort was so lovely!  I know they are about to undergo a multi-million-dollar renovation, as the resort was bought last year by Classic Hotels, and I'm so curious to see how they plan to change and upgrade everything.  I found the grounds to be so charming and magical.  There were so many gorgeous, mature trees and greenery throughout...that it didn't feel like we were in Scottsdale still.  I’m obsessed with trees, although I can't tell you anything about them, unlike my hubby, Jordan, who has a degree in landscape architecture, and enjoys naming them all for me...ha!  The ambiance of this resort definitely made me feel like I was further from home than I was.  In comparison to the other huge resorts we are known for in Arizona, I’d say this one has more of a boutique charming feel, which made it extra special.  I loved it, and found the grounds to be lush and serene.

Upon arrival, and throughout our stay, everyone was super lovely and accommodating.   They have a stunning lobby and bar within.  I was obsessing over their grandiose fireplace...the interior designer in me.

Our room was off the pool area, on the second floor. There aren't elevators, but a bellman can easily bring your luggage up for you, should you need assistance.  The room was lovely, and just what we needed.  I always enjoy when the sink and getting ready area are not in the same room as the shower.   We were greeted with the cutest Hers and His welcome baskets ever...such a special touch!  Our room had a balcony overlooking the pool area, which we didn’t get a chance to enjoy, but it’s a lovely way to start your morning or end your evening.

We immediately headed to the spa.  I am obsessed with spa treatments!  It’s one of my absolute favorite things to do!  The Jurlique Spa, was a calming little stroll from our room.  It is a very quaint spa, as they don’t have locker rooms, steam rooms, or dry saunas, but it still had this endearing sweet feel to it.  The treatments rooms themselves, were amazing.  They have this gorgeous copper tub in there, and next time I'm doing whatever treatment involves this beautiful tub.  They even had a private bathroom and shower area, which was beautifully designed and decorated, and had these gorgeous copper vessel sinks.  I've never seen private baths in the rooms before, and it was a nice unique touch.

Normally, I would choose a facial first, but being so sick, almost every day, this pregnancy, I really thought my body would most benefit from a massage, and my skin is so out of whack with my pregnancy hormones anyhow.  My masseuse Ariel, was perfection…she literally gave me the best massage.  I like my massages to be more deep tissue, as I like all the kinks to be worked out, and to get that chi flowing.  I think I told her like 5 or 6 times that the amount of pressure she applied was so amazing…ha!  They easily accommodate for expecting mothers with an additional/specialized padding on the bed.  Hands down…a phenomenal massage!  My husband also really loved his massage!  He is a contractor, so his whole body is always in pain, especially his legs, and he was sore after...exactly what he needed.  He is so funny, he always falls asleep during his massages...I can absolutely not relate...I do not want to miss a minute of the decadence.

After my massage, I got to do a pedicure and manicure with Ashley, which was such a luxury!  I have been doing my own nails for years now.  Although the other week, I had to go and get a pedicure, because I'm so pregnant it’s impossible to reach my toes now…ha!  Wow, what a difference...I completely get why people go and get them done!  Actually, I used to always have someone do my nails, but I just don’t have the time during the day as a momma, and unfortunately there is no place open or coming to me at midnight, when I’m ready.  My mani-pedi was so decadent.  I loved all the special scrubs, lotions, cuticle oils, and the mini massage to go with.  Honestly that the best part...I love my hands and feet being massaged…Ahhh so lovely.  Ashley used this Stimulite Honeycomb glove on me, that exfoliates and stimulates skin, so of course I bought that to use all over in the shower.  With every big spa day, I always buy a “spa treasure” is what I call it, from the gift shop.  I chose a perky shade of pink polish, since Valentines was a few days away.  It wasn't a gel, but a vegan, pregnancy safe, extended wear polish...and I can’t remember the name.  I really loved Ashley and you should definitely book with her.  Its amazing the difference when she painted my nails versus myself.

We both had the most relaxing and enjoyable time at the spa…especially me, because this is my heaven on earth!  Thank you to both my specialists, Ariel and Ashley...and I’d highly recommend them!  I'm looking forward to returning and trying out their Jurlique line in more depth, and indulging in other treatments too...Seriously I could spend a week at the spa...one spa treatment alone, is the most decadent thing you can do for yourself.

We stayed on property for dinner, and ate at The Scott Grill. We had the sweetest waiter, and he was so on it, and why am I blanking on his name right now...ughh..I’m sorry.  Another new tidbit to know...food is everything to me…I live to eat!  I love inventive, unique, flavorful, indulgent food, and presentation is so key!  My hubby and I like to order a lot, which we do need to work on..but we are such foodies. We started with the Burrata Board, which was pure perfection!  I added the pesto to the top of mine...the more pesto, the merrier.  We loved it so much, we ordered it poolside the next day as well.  We also ordered the Grilled Artichoke which so tasty as well.  For dinner, I got the seared Sea Scallops with Risotto...and when you see my photo below, you can just imagine the taste! I absolutely love scallops...and man this portion was so huge!  My husband helped me eat it and he was obsessed with the risotto...he kept saying it was the best he's had.  The flavor, size, and tenderness of the scallops were perfection.  I actually just ate scallops the night before, from one of our favorite places, but these were even better...cooked perfectly!  I'm getting hungry writing this.  My hubby got the Espresso rubbed Beef Tenderloin, pictured below too...and such a gorgeous presentation as well. He was super pleased with his dish...I personally don’t like the taste of steak, so it isn't enticing to me, but the presentation was, and those potato balls were so yum...I did try that.  For dessert we ordered, the Cannolis and the Cheesecake. Oh my gosh...I literally ate the whole cheesecake myself, but for a few shared bites.  I might have been too full to finish my meal, but then dessert comes and well...sooo yum!  The cannolis were beyond perfection too...both in taste and presentation. Yum, we will definitely be popping in again!  So basically we ate ourselves into sleepy mode…ha!

We were lazy bums that night...but we deserved it!  If I didn’t set my alarm, I could have slept till noon...but of course I wanted to go to breakfast.  I was really starting to miss my little Hartley before she went to sleep, and around that midnight hour.  We used Facetime to say goodnight, like we’ve done with her daddy, because some nights he is working extra hard for our family.  However, as soon as we appeared, and it registered that it was me, with daddy, her lower lip started frantically quivering, and she started hysterically crying.  It was so heartbreaking to see her so sad.  Keep in mind, I’ve only missed maybe 9-10 tucks ins, so this was not a common thing.  Although, it did warm my heart a little, to know she missed me so, because I was missing her.

The next morning, we had breakfast on site at The Scott Grill again.  The property just has one restaurant, but it’s done so well...you don't need multiple options.  We sat outside, and it was perfection!  All you can hear was running water...ahhh.  It was so wild to be having breakfast just us two, like the old days.  We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.  I had the Croissant Sandwich, which was beyond delish, my hubby had the Eggs Benedict, which he loved, and we split the French Toast... sorry, but we like to try variety of things!  Our waitress was the sweetest new momma as well, and I should have put her name in my phone as well, sorry…but we did enjoy all the waitstaff here.  Breakfast, was also one of my favorite moments…to sit outdoors, enjoy our perfect weather, with the most serene views, and sounds of running water, all with the love of my life!  It was incredible to have this relaxing meal, just us two, as hubby and wife…not as a worried momma with an active toddler next to her.

The rest of the day we sat poolside, at the main pool, beneath those gorgeous trees.  Jordan caught up on some work and we relaxed just us two.  It was so lovely.  They actually have a sandy beach pool on the right, which Hartley would have loved to wade in and build castles in the sand.  Next time, we will take her and her sister, and they can play together…oh my gosh, such a perfect vision…my two little delicious girls, playing together.  The afternoon, was a little overcast and slightly chilly at times, and even though the pools are heated, we just enjoyed lounging poolside together.  It was so decadent just us two, but we were super excited to get back to our Hartley and see her beautiful smiling face.  It was the perfect way to spend a mini Babymoon/Staycation, before things get really hectic at our home in a few weeks.  It'll be near impossible to get away, just us two, in the future.  I did have that slight guilty feeling, being so elated the whole time, without my sweet Hartley, but it’s so important in your marriage to carve out that time for the two of you.  I’m so happy we decided to make it just about us.

I’d definitely recommend this resort, if you are looking for more of a charming, intimate, lovely getaway.  Scottsdale has so much to offer, and this resort is so close to Camelback Mountain for hiking, Scottsdale Fashion Square for Shopping, and Old Town for other amazing restaurants and bars etc.  You must take advantage of the Jurlique Spa and The Scott Grill during your stay!  You will not be disappointed if you have a love of spa treatments and delicious food!

I honestly felt so revived and refreshed from our mini vacay!  It was such a special way to celebrate our marriage and indulge a little, before our sweet baby girl arrives in a few weeks.  I felt so ready to take on the week, and be a mom again.  It’s so important to stop, and take these moments to enjoy life, and the things you love to do!  Now we have this most blessed gift awaiting us in a few short weeks!!  Omg, I can’t wait to have a newborn in our home again!  I absolutely loved Hartley's newborn year. I found it to be magical in every way...she was such an easy baby!

We definitely won’t forget this special, celebratory time in our lives, and our lovely stay at The Scott Resort & Spa.  Thank you so much for having us, and of course all opinions are my own.
